99年の作品で、Journey to the Centre of the Earthの続編になる作品です。オーケストラとロックバンドの競演と言うスタイルも同じで、今回は複数のボーカリストに歌わせています。Ozzy Osbourne、Bonnie Tyler、Tony Mitchell、Trevor Rabin、Justin Hayward、Katrina Leskanichという豪華な競演が実現しています。

ナレーションによって物語が進んでいきます。オーかストアr以外のメンバーはギターのFraser Thorneycroft-Smith、ベースのPhil Williams、ドラムのSimon Hansonになります。最初の作品は全英1位になりましたが、このアルバムは34位まで健闘しました。これだけ時間が経っているのにこの成績はかなりなものです。演奏も音も前作よりもこちらの方が遥かにいいですし、迫力があります。そして劇的な歌の数々、内容はこちらの方が上でしょう。

ただ、前作の焼き直し的な部分もあり、ネタがなくなってきたので創ったというのもあるでしょうが、それにしてはきっちり創られています。コンセプトを持たないとイモっぽくなるリックですから、これだけしっかりとした題材があればいい仕事をするのです。久々に充実した作品になっています。名盤ですね。
